bsd-cut-paste
Ken Whang (ken@touch.wustl.edu) Jul 16 1994

Enclosed are source files and binaries for cut(1) and paste(1) from the
latest Berkeley distribution ported to our favorite endangered UNIX
species, A/UX.

The main advantage of the Berkeley versions is that you can handle
larger files. Line length under A/UX (3.0) is limited to 512 bytes.
To increase the line length limit beyond the Berkeley default of 2048
bytes, redefine _POSIX2_LINE_MAX in the Makefile. Incidentally, the
same 512-byte limit applies to SunOS (4.1.3), and this port works just
fine in that environment as well.

All of the source code is original Berkeley except for #ifdef's. The
original Berkeley makefiles and man pages are also included for
reference, but they're not likely to be of much use without Berkeley's
latest default makefile and tmac.an (or whatever their equivalents are
these days). A relevant header file, Berkeley's <limits.h>, is also
included for reference.

To install, cd to cut or paste and type make, or simply take the
supplied binaries and copy them to /usr/local/bin or wherever you like
to put these things.

This archive is being made available by anonymous ftp at
jagubox.gsfc.nasa.gov and dolphin.csudh.edu. Thanks go to Jim
Jagielski (jim@jagubox) and Jon Stevens (root@dolphin) for maintaining
those sites.
